The DSG is hosting a support group for people who provide care for aging individuals with Down syndrome with a focus on Area Agencies on Aging.
This session is intended for those caring for aging adults with Down syndrome (ages 35 or older) or may present symptoms of Alzheimer's and Dementia.

We will have a short presentation that will cover resources and services that adults with Down syndrome and their caregivers may be eligible for through their local Area Agency on Aging. The Area Agency on Aging provides resources and services for older adults (aged 60+) and family caregivers who meet the following criteria:
those who care for person aged 60+
those who care for person of any age with dementia
those aged 55+ who care for adult under age 60 with disabilities
those aged 55+ who have primary custody of minor grandchildren (or relatives other than biological children)
Aging and Disability Resource Center services include respite and help finding federal, state, and local services for people of all ages with all types of disabilities. Doni can provide information on choosing a long-term care facility and Medicaid services through the STAR+PLUS program.
This is an in-person event, and dinner will be provided by the DSG. Please note that childcare will not be provided, and some content may be sensitive for self-advocates with Down syndrome.
