FULL: World Down Syndrome Day Celebration at Dallas Zoo

  • Dallas Zoo 650 South R L Thornton Freeway Dallas, TX, 75203 United States (map)

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is March 21, and the DSG invites you to celebrate with us! In reviewing feedback from our membership, we recognize that some are ready for socially distanced events, while others are not quite there yet, and that's ok. The DSG has put together several options for families to celebrate their loved ones this WDSD.

Celebrate In Person:
The DSG is partnering with the Dallas Zoo for a fun socially distanced day to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome! The Dallas Zoo has implemented numerous safety protocols and reduced capacity to help provide a safe environment for all patrons. Because of this, the DSG has a limited number of tickets available for people with Down syndrome and their immediate family members only.

Generous donors have made it possible for the DSG to provide free tickets for families; however, parking is $10 per vehicle payable at the zoo entrance. Families must register in advance and check in with a DSG staff person at 9 AM at the Main Zoo Gates to receive their free tickets on March 21. Families may stay at the zoo for any length of time. The zoo will also be open to the general public, and additional tickets may be purchased directly through the Dallas Zoo while supplies last. Families are encouraged to wear crazy socks and their DSG WDSD apparel available for purchase below.

Registration is required by March 18 . Have questions? Please contact Samantha Escherich.

*COVID-19: The Dallas Zoo has strict COVID-19 protocols like face coverings for ages 10+ and social distancing requirements for all zoo patrons. Please familiarize yourself with these protocols and open/closed attractions HERE before registering for this event.

If you or anyone in your family are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms as defined by the CDC , we ask that you notify us ASAP and refrain from visiting the Dallas Zoo. The Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas accepts no responsibility should you or a family member be diagnosed with COVID-19 following this event.
